Self -healing is integral to Reiki. As Mikao Usui once said in an interview “If you can’t heal yourself, how can you heal others.” You don’t have to self-heal to be able to use Reiki on others, but self-healing makes you a better Reiki practitioner, enhances your intuition, helps you to understand your purpose and place in the universe and keeps you healthy and happy.
As I often say to our Reiki students, I would rather they self-heal and never heal another living soul, than heal everyone else but abandon their own self-healing.
You should be the number one person in your life. If you are suffering, how can you help others effectively. I have a chronic illness and without self-healing daily I wouldn’t be able to get out of bed. It’s a big part of my life. It’s as important as brushing my teeth, eating, sleeping and other activities that we simply do because we need to.
Self-healing with Reiki shouldn’t be seen as a chore. It’s relaxing, fun and fulfilling and the beauty of Reiki is that you can self-heal on the train, bus, in a traffic jam, during your lunch-hour, in front of the TV.
I appreciate that many people are incredibly busy, but try to squeeze some self-healing in. Something is better than nothing. Perhaps you can self-heal in the bath, before bedtime, or set your alarm 15 minutes earlier in the morning and do some self-healing before you get up. You’ll soon see the results.
